Creepy Candy Bowls

Join us to create a creepy carved candy bowl to hold your seasonal candy in this 2 hour hand-building and Sgraffito workshop!

In this hands-on class, you’ll be guided step-by-step by one of our studio instructors to create a spooky bowl out of slabs of clay. You will then decorate your bowl in class using a technique called “Sgraffito” (an Italian term meaning “to scratch”). Sgraffito is the process of painting your piece a solid color, and carving a design into it to expose the clay below. See the below photos for some examples of what you can create!

No prior pottery experience or drawing skills needed- we can provide stencils for carving designs and will teach you all of the pottery hand building techniques you will need.

After the workshop, we will bisque fire your pieces and glaze them in a clear coat to seal the clay and make it food safe.

Saturday, October 3rd, 10:00am-12:00pm

-Location: Kilnfolk Clay Studio, 108 W 6th Street, Vancouver, WA 98660. Metered street parking downtown, or secure parking is available one block away in the Lot #18 Park ‘n Go Vancouver Center Garage.
-Price: $70 per person

-What’s Included: 2 hours of guided instruction, materials, and one painted, carved, and fired candy bowl to be picked up a few weeks after the workshop.

-Attire: Wear comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting a bit dirty. Feel free to bring your own apron.
