The Image area comprises of Image, North Image, and Landover-Sharmel. Image was developed starting in the 70s when this part of town was still rural agricultural/pasture land. When the neighborhood association was formed, it was the biggest neighborhood at the time with nearly 8,000 residents until it was split into Image and North Image in the early 2000s. This neighborhood has every types of housing from manufacture parks to apartments to multifamily but the majority of homes are single family ranch on large lots. There are plenty of mature trees and wide streets but not every streets have sidewalks.
Landover-Sharmel is especially beautiful with even more trees lining the streets, giving the neighborhood a wonderful shade canopy. The west side of Landover was more recently developed into high density housing once the owners of Joe’s Farm started selling their land to developers.
